Despite pretty atrocious conditions this rearranged fixture went ahead as I guess no-one wanted to delay again. I'm not sure about HH but speaking for Hove the first few months of the season have been a disaster for the commercial side of things. Next week we have our penultimate home match and the chance to define our season. More later.
Out in the paddy fields, players were up to their ankles in parts and the ball would stop dead when it hit some of these puddles - causing difficulties for the players (both sides) to predict how it would react. I rather thought Heath looked the stronger in the opening exchanges but it was Hove who opened the scoring with a sweet penalty kick from Sam.
It was then almost the end of the half - well, 32 minutes in before the scoreboard had to move again and this was a disastrous kick out by Heath that saw the ball stall in the air, swirl about a bit and then come back down a good inch

I think the general consensus of people was "well, at least we won" and that is true. Not a particularly pleasing game to watch but one that pushed Hove's away tally from 2 to 3 and another away match to come next week with the rearranged game at Heath.
Quite how the referee found 103 minutes of game time is beyond me and 12 passed whilst we waited for the first sin bin to end. But there you go. The pitch was very wet as well especially at the side we were. Whether this contributed to anything other than wet feet will remain a matter of some conjecture and speculation.
As I write this (Tuesday) the ground is covered in snow and we must consider Saturday's fixture to be in some doubt unless there is a marked improvement in the weather. If there is nothing on, can I encourage EVERYONE to attend the Club for the Six Nations and boost the bar takings.
Cheers

Hove after last week’s disappointing result sit at 6th place in the league, 2 points behind 5th and a game in hand, it is fair to say that Hove XV are still in a position to climb further up the league. With this week’s game at home against sidcup who currently hold the 5th position was going to be a challenging match.
With the Hove supporters ready and eagerly waiting, Hove kicked off and instantly began attacking the sidcup side, unlike last week were unable to get an early lead and a held ball decision from the ref gave sidcup possession.
Not long after, the ball was once again in Hove’s hands with Ryan Morlan charging with pace at the try line but was brought down at the 20 metre mark, however without support the ball was lost by Hove and sidcup cleared.
With both sides looking to gain dominance, much of the play continued in the centre of the field, however a decision against hove for the ball being played

Today's report by Sarah...
Hove currently sitting within 7th place on the league table came to Havant looking for a win, particularly given last weeks’ disappointing loss against Beckenham. With the usual fan club (Wag’s) cheering from the stands – minus our usual reporter and photographer we were expecting a good day of rugby.
Hove didn't disappoint, 18 seconds after the whistle was blown, they charged forward through Havants defence, quick and accurate off loads saw the ball in James Muir’s hands as he broke through the Havant back line. A last minute pass saw Ryan Morlan land Hove’s first try in the right hand corner, Havant looking quite stunned. The conversion was nicely taken by Sam Whiting and within minutes Hove XV were up 7-0.
Havant attacked quickly from the re-start and tested the Hove forward’s defences. However possession was lost and Hove fought back with a sprint from Ryan Ball,

I'm trying to get back in the swing of getting these things done first thing on Sunday - which means I have to get up earlier! The sacrifices that us artists (piss artists!) have to make for our work is unknown by the artisans amongst you. Can you have a piss artisan? If so, I was with a few yesterday.
But first - I repaired down t'Club with all manner of artefacts in tow. Phil (who was supposed to be playing for the 5s but they got called off), my bag of club keys and financial things, a furry hat, a waterproof jacket, Phil's bag of rugby accoutrements, 3 signed match balls by t'Kiwis, 1 signed match ball by t'Quins and (don't ask) a chilled Gatorade container!
Lord Fisher of t'Albion was parting with his hard earned (well not that hard in his case!) and sponsoring the game and so I advised everyone to get a drink on his tab! Nice bit of Ruby (got seconds too!) and a bottle of red followed by Sticky Toffee - what more
